Sunday Hike
On Sunday we went hiking and it was fun and Mogley and Mom#2 came and we fished and we caught nothing and we saw cows and crossed streams and we saw people hunting mushrooms and it was cold and windy and it was hard to breathe. Overall it was a great day and I can think of no better way to describe it than a really terrible run on sentence.

Life
I know it's been a while since I have updated this blog, but I really have no excuses. I feel like we have been so busy, but when I try and think of what we've been up to, it all seems pretty inconsequential. Here are a few updates:
*The picture above was taken at the Deer Valley BB King Concert. It was a great night!
*I got a new job! I'm still at Black Diamond, but instead of working in finance, I am now the Executive Assistant/Legal Assistant to the CEO and In House Counsel. I'm psyched for the opportunity!
*We're still mountain biking a ton. We've done 2 endurance races so far with one more to go. I'll be glad when those are over.
*Last weekend we went to Grand Targhee in Alta, Wyoming for the Pierre's Hole 50 miler. It was seriously the hardest thing I have ever done. There were plenty of times I secretly hoped for a bike crash so I would have an excuse to bail.
*We want to move to Park City. We think we can make this happen and are working on it. Stay tuned for more details as they unfold.
Other than that, I've got nothing new to report. This is a super boring post, so hopefully I can redeem myself in the next few days with an adorable bulldog picture. We'll see!!

JJ Grey & Mofro
Every year, we hit at least one concert at Red Butte Gardens. Last night was JJ Grey & Mofro. Who in the world is that you ask? Look them up, they are pretty good. They are a little bit bluesy and little bit rock'n'roll and their music just has a way of putting you in a happy mood. JJ Grey has one of the best voices around...he's got a lot of soul for a white guy :)
I asked Garrett to take a picture of us. Me: Look at your face. Are you happy with this?
Me: Much better.

Happy Friday Ya'll
It's Friday. Woohoo!!
Just in case anyone cares, here are a few Kener Family updates:
*We're in Full mountain biking mode. Garrett and I are signed up for 3 endurance races this summer. We're doing a 50 miler in Breckenridge over 4th of July weekend, a 50 miler at Grand Targhee Resort in August and a 75 miler in Park City over Labor Day.
*As I mentioned above, we're going to Breckenridge next weekend. I'm super excited for the race and to spend 3 days enjoying the town. I have already picked out restaurants for each night cause I'm just cool like that :) My plan, other than racing is to have several REAL margaritas, a REAL draft beer and bootleg some Fat Tire back to Utah. SEE WHAT YOU HAVE DONE TO ME UTAH??? You have made the most important part of my vacation all about getting good alcohol. Thanks for that.
*We just booked our plane tickets to Austin for the ACL Music Festival in October. I scored some nonstop plane tickets for a great deal so that + 3 Full days of music makes me a happy girl. You can bet your life I'll be packing my rain boots this year after last year's rain and bare feet and poo fiasco. Use your imagination, but it was gross.
* I've decided that I have a mild case of OCD, but that's a whole other post for a whole other day.
* I've been riding Jones (the horse) twice a week. I am really attached to that big guy.
* We have a concert this Monday, June 28th at Red Butte Gardens...JJ Grey and Mofro. Lots of friends, bring your own booze and food, great music...pretty much a perfect night in my book.
* Garrett's parents are coming to Utah in a couple of weeks and staying thru the summer. I'm excited to spend some time with them...they're the best ever!
* My sister is getting married in December...on a CRUISE! Garrett and I have never been on one and we're psyched. I am going to have to work on my terrible biking tan lines before then, b/c oh my, they are not cute. Not cute at all.
*We had a mountain bike race on Tuesday. I was killing it. Only 2 minutes behind First Place, who is a pro rider!! 20 feet before the finish line, I went down hard in the gravel. The entire right side of my body is covered in road rash and bruises. This is just how I roll and it surprises no one anymore. Garrett has become a Pro at applying Neosporin to my wounds.
*My hair. This relates back to my OCD issue, but I feel like I'm never happy. I think I'm going back to REALLY blonde like it used to be. None of this dark stuff or in between stuff. I really do think blondes have more fun. Sorry brunettes.
*Garrett's garden is doing pretty well, but nothing to eat yet. The plants were having a rough time thriving, seeing as though this last week is the firt week this summer where I have not worn a jacket. It snowed 2 weeks ago for crying out loud. That just makes me mad. Real Mad. There is nothing worse than wanting to wear tank tops and flip flops and shorts and walking outside to snow. It's terrible.
*Allright, I've bored you enough. Thanks for hanging tough thru that. I'll leave you with a pic of me and Mr. Mogs just b/c I think he's so darn cute. Have a great weekend everyone.

Just Happy
Sometimes I wish Garrett had a better job. Sometimes I wish I had a better job. In the end though, when I really think about my life, I don't think I would change a single thing. We aren't wealthy. We don't have extravagant things. Our house is small. Our jobs are just that...jobs. Our jobs do not consume our lives and I feel sorry for people who have jobs that do. I couldn't love this guy anymore if I tried, so yeah, life is pretty good.

Cold and Wet
As far as weather goes, this weekend was pretty much a bust. It was cold and rainy and there really wasn't much going on. Garrett and I were bummed we didn't get any time out on our bikes and Munch was bummed we stayed in the house all weekend and forced him to pose for pictures. For everyone's sanity, let's hope this week brings sunshine and clear skies.

It's Friday
I would love to post a pic of one of my cute doggies to help make your Friday happier. But I don't have one right now. All I have is this terrible picture of two people wearing hideous outfits and even more hideous sunglasses standing in front of a rather beautiful view. Enjoy the view.
Happy Friday.

3 Years
Yesterday there was a big bouquet of flowers waiting for me when I got home. That means one of two things: My birthday or my anniversary. Well it wasn't my birthday.
3 years have gone by so fast. Garrett is my best friend, and the best husband a girl could ever ask for. These first 3 years of marriage have been awesome and I can't wait to see what the future has in store for us. Happy Anniversary Garrett. I love you.

My Kind of Weekend
So, it's Monday and I'm feeling pretty great versus my usual blah, it's Monday attitude. This was like the BEST weekend ever...beautiful weather and we got a ton of things done around the house.
Saturday we went out and raced the Sundance ICUP mountain bike race. I didn't win...I didn't even come in 2nd, but I'm okay with that. I had to move up to Expert this year and I was humbled by the quickness of these girls. I could keep up on the uphill and flats, but they KILLED me on the downhill. It's my biggest problem, and I'm working on it, but I really enjoy my scarless face and mouth full of teeth, so I'm in quite the predicament. Garrett just tells me "Don't Fall" but I have a hard enough time staying upright on two feet, much less 2 wheels.
The weather was absolutely beautiful in Salt Lake this weekend. Blue skies, warm temps, and yesterday I wore a TANK TOP all day. Woohoo! Today is supposed to be even nicer, but by tomorrow, we're back to rainy and cold. Oh boy.
Friday is Garrett's 30th Birthday! He's not super excited about turning 30, so I'm doing what I can to make it a special day for him. He doesn't want a production, and I get that so I think we'll just go to dinner...his choice of course. See how much I love him!!
The inside of my house is a disaster...like I'd rather walk outside barefoot than in my kitchen barefoot. But, I left the house this morning with a smile on my face and a check on the counter. For about 6 months now, I have had a housekeeper and she has made my life so much better. She's a cleaning fool and finds things every week I have deemed lost and forgotten. It's such a relief to me to not have to spend one of my very valuable weekend days cleaning. It's an indulgence for sure, but oh my god, a wonderful one.
Here are some pics from the Race on Saturday. Have a great week everyone!
Me Finishing
This was right after I crossed the finish line. Garrett had been done for a while, can you tell??

Moab White Rim Trail
This past Saturday, Garrett and I did the Moab White Rim Trail in one day. It was a long day on the bike, started pedaling at 7 am and finished pedaling at 7 pm...103 miles total. Here is a quote from utahmountainbiking.com:
"Most riders spend 3 or 4 days to ride this trail, spending the night at campgrounds. (Two days = Monster. One day = Lunatic.)"
So I guess we're lunatics, but we did have a great time.

A Work in Progress
So I guess I never posted pics of the kitchen/living room project after we got things back to livable. There are still several things we need to do, but in an effort to enjoy our new space after MONTHS of pain and torture, we've decided to put those little things off until Fall.
P.S. In case you were wondering, my wine rack is full now.

Munch in a Blanket
Munch did not want any part of taking this picture with me. We tried a couple of times, but he wouldn't open his eyes or even pick up his head. What you can't see is my husband dangling a slice of meat over his head...so I'm not sure if Munch is interested in the forseeable treat or the ridiculousness of a grown man waving food over his head to try and get the dog to pay attention for one second. Either way it worked...WE WIN!!

Hello New Patio Furniture
I have been wanting a grown up patio furniture set for some time now. It has taken me years to aquire any b/c I have 2 very strong forces working against me: My expensive taste and my husband's extreme cheapness. So yeah, these things do not go hand in hand and I wasn't willing to settle for the Home Depot special.
Anyway, I found a used Teak set for a VERY reasonable price...it just needed some love. Well, love, a power sander and teak oil. After a full day of work, I think it turned out great.

Spring Time
After a rough start to Spring, Mother Nature decided to give me a break this weekend and allowed me to ride my new mountain bike...in SHORTS...in a SLEEVELESS jersey. Yeah, it was awesome biking weather and I couln't be more pleased with my new Moots.
So, I'm really going to make an effort to post more often than once every 5 months. There are like 3 people who apparently read this blog and need to be updated on the mundane, boring stuff that goes on in my life.
