My Kind of Weekend

So, it's Monday and I'm feeling pretty great versus my usual blah, it's Monday attitude. This was like the BEST weekend ever...beautiful weather and we got a ton of things done around the house.

Saturday we went out and raced the Sundance ICUP mountain bike race. I didn't win...I didn't even come in 2nd, but I'm okay with that. I had to move up to Expert this year and I was humbled by the quickness of these girls. I could keep up on the uphill and flats, but they KILLED me on the downhill. It's my biggest problem, and I'm working on it, but I really enjoy my scarless face and mouth full of teeth, so I'm in quite the predicament. Garrett just tells me "Don't Fall" but I have a hard enough time staying upright on two feet, much less 2 wheels.

The weather was absolutely beautiful in Salt Lake this weekend. Blue skies, warm temps, and yesterday I wore a TANK TOP all day. Woohoo! Today is supposed to be even nicer, but by tomorrow, we're back to rainy and cold. Oh boy.

Friday is Garrett's 30th Birthday! He's not super excited about turning 30, so I'm doing what I can to make it a special day for him. He doesn't want a production, and I get that so I think we'll just go to dinner...his choice of course. See how much I love him!!

The inside of my house is a disaster...like I'd rather walk outside barefoot than in my kitchen barefoot. But, I left the house this morning with a smile on my face and a check on the counter. For about 6 months now, I have had a housekeeper and she has made my life so much better. She's a cleaning fool and finds things every week I have deemed lost and forgotten. It's such a relief to me to not have to spend one of my very valuable weekend days cleaning. It's an indulgence for sure, but oh my god, a wonderful one.

Here are some pics from the Race on Saturday. Have a great week everyone!

Me Finishing

This was right after I crossed the finish line. Garrett had been done for a while, can you tell??

Moab White Rim Trail

This past Saturday, Garrett and I did the Moab White Rim Trail in one day. It was a long day on the bike, started pedaling at 7 am and finished pedaling at 7 pm...103 miles total. Here is a quote from utahmountainbiking.com:
"Most riders spend 3 or 4 days to ride this trail, spending the night at campgrounds. (Two days = Monster. One day = Lunatic.)"
So I guess we're lunatics, but we did have a great time.

A Work in Progress

So I guess I never posted pics of the kitchen/living room project after we got things back to livable. There are still several things we need to do, but in an effort to enjoy our new space after MONTHS of pain and torture, we've decided to put those little things off until Fall.

P.S. In case you were wondering, my wine rack is full now.

Possessions

If you sleep with all your toys, it is less likely that a certain french bulldog will take them hostage.

Munch in a Blanket

Munch did not want any part of taking this picture with me. We tried a couple of times, but he wouldn't open his eyes or even pick up his head. What you can't see is my husband dangling a slice of meat over his head...so I'm not sure if Munch is interested in the forseeable treat or the ridiculousness of a grown man waving food over his head to try and get the dog to pay attention for one second. Either way it worked...WE WIN!!

Head...Oven...Now

Something about SNOW on my tulips...on April freakin 29th...makes me want to punch a kitten. Okay, maybe not a kitten, but it makes me want to punch something.

No, but seriously, this is absurd. My toes are longing for flip flops.

Hello New Patio Furniture

I have been wanting a grown up patio furniture set for some time now. It has taken me years to aquire any b/c I have 2 very strong forces working against me: My expensive taste and my husband's extreme cheapness. So yeah, these things do not go hand in hand and I wasn't willing to settle for the Home Depot special.

Anyway, I found a used Teak set for a VERY reasonable price...it just needed some love. Well, love, a power sander and teak oil. After a full day of work, I think it turned out great.
